REVEALED: EFCC Boss, Ibrahim Magu’s Job Threatened, Hurriedly Returns “Corrupt” Friends To NPF, Police Source Says

Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, the Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, found it hard to stomach when he discovered that his friends were vying for his job.
DENISAURUS News learned that friends of Mr Magu named: Ishaq Salihu, former South- South Zonal Head of the EFCC, Ayo Ajala, Director of Organisation Support (Admin), Johnson Babalola and Bashir Dalhatu – who are on secondment at the Commission, all want to become the next Chief Executive of the Commission.
The anti-graft boss, whose nomination as the fourth chairman of the agency was rejected by the Senate, reportedly got wind of the threat to his job and immediately decided to remove the individuals clamouring to take over from him.
All the men have since been returned back to their mother organisation, which is the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.
Mr Salihu is seen as a front for the Borno Commissioner of Police, who the Department of State Security Service, DSS describes as a “perennial offender” and a “liability to the anti-corruption crusade.”
Insiders say Mr Magu came into the office, walked straight into Mr Salihu’s office and ordered him to come out. The anti-graft boss, then locked the door and went away with the key, leaving Mr Salihu stranded out of his office.
Mr Magu “uses and dumps people,” a police close to Mr Salihu who gave this information of the redeployment in a telephone interview with DENISAURUS News said.
The source said it’s like when he moved Ilyasu Kwarbai, and similarly after using Ishaku Sharu for so many corrupt activities, Mr Magu went and posted him to Lagos without portfolio, and made him redundant.
EFCC sources say things first went sour for the friends when Mr Salihu, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP threatened to expose their dodgy dealings. Mr Magu later discovered that Mr Salihu was making underground moves to become the chairman of the Commission, since he had failed to be confirmed due to the indicting report from the secret police.
It also turned out that Mr Ajala, also an ACP had made moves to submit his CV to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. Although, this newspaper discovered that his application was later rejected.
It is not certain why Mr Dalhatu, a Chief Superintendent of Police was returned back to the NPF. CSP Babalola, an “amebo and lackey” to Mr Magu.
In the effort of concealing the memo, Mr Magu hand delivered it to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
Yet, DENISAURUS News, who has published other news about the Commission exclusively, was the first to have access to exposé.
Mr Magu and the spokesperson of the commission did not reply to a request for comment as at the time of publishing this article.
Despite being rejected by the Senate, Mr Magu remains in office.
The first rejection was in December 2015, but the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo forwarded his name to the Senate for a second time. The second nomination, like the first was rejected on March 15, 2017.
At a recent Senate Committee meeting, the Director General of the secret police inferred that Mr Magu is running the anti-graft agency based on gossips and political interferrence from the likes of a top government official, a party chieftain and a traditional ruler.
Professor Osinbajo, who was Attorney General  and State Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State between 1999 and 2007, has constantly come out in public to defend Mr Magu.
