IT IS NOT PRUDENT TO WRITE OFF BARCELONA

The usual suspects
Barcelona had an ‘off day’ against a very determined and motivated Paris Saint Germain side. They were hammered to submission with many mouths left aghast at what happened to the Catalans. The offshoot of that match eventually crystallized in Coach Luis Enrique’s announcement that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Prior to the encounter in Paris, Barcelona had played unconvincingly in some of their matches. Being a club with sky-high expectations; queries had been raised on their preparedness to achieve anything significant in the season. The doubt on Barcelona’s winning probability and mentality were not helped with major rival’s consistent performance in the league. Real Madrid raked in points after points and looking much more powerful than in the recent past. At a stage, they were seven points ahead of Barcelona with two outstanding games.
In football however, things do not stay same for long and Real Madrid started struggling and as I write, Barcelona has caught up with the capital club and leading with a point with 12 games left to play. While it is true that Real Madrid has played a game less than the Catalans – there’s no guarantee that Los Blancos will take maximum points from that match.

Those that are of the view that Barcelona is weak and less competitive this season in Europe and Laliga may be in for a shock of their lives as the Catalans may end up being the champions in Spain and also win the Copa Del Rey to boot. When that happens; there will be no choice than to accept the fact the team has done well!
Determined to leave high
Barca are back to playing their usual game. Quick passes, mind boggling possession and spectacular goals. What’s more, the terrible trio (Messi, Neymar and Suarez) are scoring for fun again and God save anyone who gets in their way when they are in full flight!
Now to the interesting question – Will Barcelona be able to upturn a four goal deficit in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League? To be frank, it is a very tough call and task for Barca. One thing is however certain; PSG will be made to sweat at Camp Nou tomorrow and we will be in for a spectacle.
